FIGURE 08 - SAMUEL L SESSION MARCEL DETTMANN LEN FAKI - MY BLACK SHEEP INTERPRETATIONS 2/2

€8.08

Len Fakis "My Black Sheep" was released last year on Podium. The sounds of this very special track are immediate and mysterious, the groove is calm and rousing. With every new element, the arrangement of the track becomes tighter and tighter. It is the most subtle techno anthem you can image.

The first volume of the two-piece "Interpretations" featured Radio Slave and Luke Slater, Samuel L. Session and Marcel Dettmann did the remixes of the second record. Few techno heroes of the nineies managed to transform their musical approach into a contemporary techno sound as seamlessly as Samuel L. Session. His tracks are at the same time simple and strinking, elementary and funky, elegant and stormy. The "Choice Mix" of "My Black Sheep" starts with a low-key drum groove and a hypnotic bassline. Samuel L. Session restates the emotional statement of the original track with a radiantly beautiful string sound. The "Bang the Drum Mix" deals with the sounds of "My Black Sheep" more directly: Tieing its elements tightly, the result is euphoric techno tempest.

Being Len Fakis fellow resident at Club Berghain, Marcel Dettmann is the producer of the third remix. With a series of special remixes being released during the next months, Dettmann might be one of the most sought-after remixers of this summer. The punch of the rumbling bassdrum of his version of "My Black Sheep" could not be more striking. Dettmann only uses a tiny bit of the original track and the consistancy of the rudimental result is quite a surprise. It is rough and untamed like few techno tracks today.

Annother remix by Marcel Dettmann will only be available digitally at beatport.com
